|Week 5| {Jan 31- Feb. 4}

Mon. 1 Kings 10: 1-13 Solomon and the Queen of Sheba
When are you tempted to try to impress people?

~This passage talks about how when the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relation to the name of the Lord. The only reason why she came to Jeruselum was to test him with a hard question. Arriving at Jerusalem with  large quantities of gold, and precious stones. She came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind. Solomon answered all her questions. Nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built and the food on his table, in the temple of the, she was overwhelmed. I am tempted to impress people whenever i am in some place where no one knows me or i am  new.
Tues. 1 Kings 12: 1-24 Solomon’s Unwise Son
Who are some people you know who will give you good advice?

~This passage talks about how
Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all the Israelites had gone there to make him king. When Jeroboam heard this (he was still in Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon), he returned from Egypt. So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and the whole assembly of Israel went to Rehoboam and said to him: “Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but now lighten the harsh labor and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you." It also talks about how Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the men who had grown up with him. He asked them what is your advice? They replied, Tell these people My father laid on you a heavy yoke; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions. The people that i know will give me good advice is ONE of my friends, Betty, She always does. And my sister and my mother.

Wed. 1 Kings 17: 1-24 God Takes Care of Elijah
How do obeying and trusting God go together in your life?

~This passage talks about how

Thurs. 1 Kings 18: 16-46 Elijah Versus the Priests of Baal
How would you describe your attitude toward God’s power today?

~This passage talks about how  Elijah said to Ahab as the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word. Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah. God said, Leave here turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there So he did what the Lord had told him. He went and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. Soon the brook dried up and God to him to go to the house of a widow. When he arrived there the woman told him that she had no food to give  him only enough for her and her son to eat and die. Elijah told her to go back and check her.. When she went back she had jars and jars full of oil and more than enough bread. My attitude towards God's power is good. I love to see God work miracles and show himself to lost sinners.

Fri. Kings 19: 1-21 Spiritual Burnout
When was the last time you felt sorry for yourself?
~This passage talks about how Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them. Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. I have had enough Lord he said. Take my life I am no better than my ancestors. Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep.  The last time i felt sorry for myself wasnt anytime recent, but i ehenever i feel sorry for myself its probably because i made the decission to do whatever it was that made me feel that way.
